The Champagne Edit :: A Random Source of Inspiration

Happy Friday!

I’m not going to lie, this is one of my favourite weekly series. It’s like a mini catch up, you know?

It’s been really nice / refreshing to get back into my normal blogging schedule. Though I needed a break to heal, last week, there is definitely something majorly therapeutic about blogging.

This weekend will hopefully be low-key. As you know, weekends are really when I spend working & strategizing for the blog which I really look forward to.

I know I mentioned this on my insta-stories, but one random thing I do to keep me inspired for the blog is  that I subscribe to a lot of print magazines.

From Cosmopolitan, to Martha Stewart, to Food & Wine, to Cooking Light, to Real Simple, to Travel + Leisure.

There’s something about having it all in print, from the photography set up, to product placement, to outfits / make up, to recipe techniques that keeps me inspired. Whenever I see anything that catches my eye visually, I tear it out and keep it in a folder. Whenever I am feeling uninspired, ESPECIALLY with photography, I flip through those images and it really helps get my creativity wheels turning.

Not to mention, there’s something relaxing about physically flipping through the pages, especially before bed.

It’s a blue light free way of getting things that you’d normally read on your screens anyways.

Give it a go! Any magazines I should add to my subscriptions? Let me know!

On another note, now is more important than ever if you are a wine drinker, to buy from Napa or Sonoma. If there is a winery you love, be sure to order directly through them. It’s a win for you as the prices will be the lowest & you get to support a company you love & wine country as a whole. This isn’t just wine either – it’s also olive oil & even cannabis! If there is a company you love out here, contact them directly on how to purchase.

If you have any questions on where to buy or what winery to try – shoot me a note and I’m more than happy to flex my somm muscle and find you the perfect winery for your tastes. Now’s a good enough excuse than ever to stock up on wine! x

What are you up to this weekend?

Now let’s get into the edit, shall we?

EAT ME :: POLENTA CRUST PIZZA BY THE KITCHN

This is one of those recipes that you read and wonder how did I not think of that?! It’s a super easy, accessible pizza recipe. Basically the crust is just polenta! This is perfect for cold winter days – think creamy, cheesy, savory goodness. YES PLZ

DRINK ME :: 2012 GRATITUDE CUVÉE by IRON HORSE VINEYARDS

As mentioned, now is more important than ever to support Napa & Sonoma. If there is a winery you love, buy from them directly. One of my all time favourite wineries is Iron Horse Vineyards in Sebastapol. They are safe from the fires but recently released their Gratitude sparkling rosé. It’s a limited 2012 vintage and with each bottle sold, $5 goes to The Redwood Empire Foodbank. If you are local, be sure to visit Iron Horse, as well through October. All tasting fees are waived and they are donating a portion of proceeds from both the tasting room & online sales to the Food Bank. Now’s a good enough time than ever to buy rosé!

READ ME :: WHEN GOSSIP GIRL RULED THE WORLD

Can you believe it’s been an entire decade since Gossip Girl premeired?! No joke, I’ve probably seen every episode of every season at LEAST 6 times. This was a very nostalgic but fascinating read about the series. It really is a unique show for so many reasons as it was on the cusp of real time TV vs on-demand, it blended reality with fantasy, and the way gossip girl was depicted is very real to this day. It’s also amazing to read about the characters, the castings, and the beginnings of the show that we didn’t see to this day. I’m thinking a Gossip Girl binge is in my very near future….

BUY ME :: K/LAB ZIPPER HEM JOGGERS

I was recently introduced to this brand at Kohl’s and I am in love with it! One of my favourite trends of the season are center slits on pants & this zipper is so chic! It makes it super easy to dress up or down. I am also in love with this silver space-age jacket too. They’re both on sale through the weekend with the code HURRY *adds to cart*

DANCE W/ ME ::KENNEDY – WANTED THE WORLD

I’ve been very nostalgic lately – it always happens in the month of October. I promise next month, I’ll stop starting sentences like this BUT… when I first moved to San Francisco, I made an Empire of the Sun Pandora station that is SUPER tailored with plenty thumbs ups & downs. Through that, I got introduced to Kennedy – who’s music is rad and hilarious at the same time. One of my favourite tracks is Wanted The World. Issa feel good & issa vibe! Check it out, I promise you will LOVE.

Definitely loving print magazines as well, it’s just a different feeling flipping through real paper pages than reading in a digital format.

If I’m not working on the weekends, I use them to catch up on editing photos, writing reviews, or binging on HBO Go so I can totally relate to you there. But I do love your idea of getting more into print magazines. With everything being online I think I forgot about it myself. I miss seeing photos that I can flip and pages with text. Seems like something I need to get back to so thank you for that reminder Shannon <3
