The Champagne Edit :: new site, who dis?!

FIRST CHAMPAGNE EDIT OF C@S 2k17!

I know I have been a bit of a downer lately here on the blog, but August has been a very trying month. That said, it’s time to lighten things up over here, so let’s pop the champagne and get into it, shall we?

Let’s see- what’s new?!

A hell of a lot!

First off, new site – who dis?! I hope you are loving the new site. I’m soooo excited for it to be live & really looking to take things to the next level.

I mentioned here that I will be implementing video. Basically, once I finish redoing my apartment (I’m about 40% there), it’s on.

That said, if there is anything you want to see, let me know! Name the topics, I’ll make it happen.

Erik & I are also back from Europe! We spent last week in Amsterdam & Barcelona… and we fell head over heels in LOVE with Barcelona. It is now neck to neck with Tokyo as our favourite city.

Everything about it was heavenly but I gotta tell you, the Catalan cuisine there rocked my world in a major way and really changed the way I see things in the kitchen.

If you followed our trip on insta-stories, I was basically raving about it. Pretty much, everything there is so simple, yet complex. Huge focus on fresh, high quality but low quantity ingredients. One of the best salads we had was simply sliced tomatoes, olive oil {the best damn olive oil I’ve ever had}, & maldon sea salt flakes. THAT’S IT.

Ohhhh & speaking of: grate that and put it on some toast for some Pan Con Tomate aka what I ate EVERY.DAY in Spain.

SO NOW, as you can imagine, I am on the hunt for some Catalonian/Spanish cookbooks, olive oil, & a good box grater! If you have any reccs, let me know.

Also, I’ll be back on track posting starting next week! The break / vacation has been fun, but it’s time to get back at it. Again, as I take things to the next level here, I’m finally getting serious about an editorial calendar. SO- again, anything you want to see, let me know. Really looking forward to bringing some fun recipes up in here, up in here.

What are you up to this weekend?

xx Shannon

PS – Florida, you are in my thoughts – stay safe y’all x

EAT ME :: PEANUT BUTTER OREO PIE BY EDEN FROST

Eden’s blog is the cutest & a regular read of mine! I am a HUGE fan of her recipes, and this no-bake peanut butter oreo {are u drooling yet?} pie is no exception! Basically, I am a sucker for an oreo crust & no bake desserts so this is a win-win… not to mention you can use the oreo crust for literally EVERYTHING! In fact, I want to put some mint-chip ice cream in it!

DRINK ME :: GIN & TONIC FLOAT! by KATE HACKWORTHY

In Spain, G&T’s are ALL the rage. This deserves a blog post on it’s own but while researching, I came across this phenomenal recipe on the blog, Veggie Desserts! GIN & TONIC floats…. yes, with ice cream! YUM! I cannot wait to give this a go – especially since it’s finally summer in SF now that it’s September. I think this would be bomb af with some lime sorbet too 🙂

READ ME :: STEVE JOB’S MOCK TURTLENECK GETS A SECOND LIFE

Y’all know I am obsessed with Steve Jobs. He is a MAJOR source of inspiration for me in so many ways. He is very well known for his black mock-neck sweater, the Semi-Dull T by Issey Miyake. Well, they are re-releasing this! I know I will get my hands on one but the story on how it came to be is fascinating & is something I kind of want to implement.

BUY ME :: URBAN OUTFITTERS CARMEN ZIP-UP SWEATER DRESS

The second I saw this dress, I HAD to have it. This dress is perfect for the upcoming season and I love how versatile it is – you can zip it up as a turtleneck or down as a v-neck. This with some stovepipe boots & coloured lenses is just made for fall with a nostalgic touch. It also comes in black! How would you style this?

DANCE W/ ME :: EARTHBOOGIE – MR. MYSTERY

When we were in Houston two weeks ago, we went to an old favourite bar of mine called Grand Prize. I forgot how much I loved the place! The DJ {instagram here} REALLY stood out and was playing the most rad jams. This came on and I HAD TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS. No joke, I marched over to the DJ booth, asked him, & he handed me the vinyl he was spinning {!!!!!!!} so I could get it. Needless to say it’s been on repeat ever since. Here is a great interview to get to know Earthboogie.

EarthBoogie is the duo of Izaak Gray & Nicola Robinson. With a huge influence of times past, you can expect something throughout the eras, from disco, to synthesizers, to drum rhythms. Serious aural pleasure. In fact, they describe themself “dedicated to all things intergalactic, cosmic, tribal, & terrestrial”. Sign me UP. “Mr. Mystery” is straight perfection – from the flutes, to the the drums, to the beat that makes you either want to dance or light one up.  Your call, but I’m going with the latter… 🙂
