I am back from my magical birthday vacation from Cabo… and it is hitting me. Hard.

Lots of sun, LOTS of chips, even more guacamole, & way too much tequila – if there is such a thing…

I am in need of a serious recharge & reboot.

Shelly recently reached out to me inquiring if I had any interest in talking about healthy eating for busy people – talk about a match made in heaven and perfect timing!

I was so excited to hear what she has to say & for selfish reasons so I can take her advice as I get back into the swing of things.

INTRODUCE YOURSELF :: My name is Shelly Stinson! I’m a freelance writer based out of Denver, CO. My interests include healthy living, being active outdoors and trying new restaurants #foodie!! Right now I’m trying to start my own blog! Hopefully things will take off, but really all I can say is I’m following my dream!

BIGGEST BEAUTY SECRET :: Exercise! Whenever I workout, not only do I feel confident about my outer appearance, but I also feel as if it helps me reach some kind of inner beauty and happiness.

CHALLENGES IN YOUR FIELD :: Some challenges I face are how people perceive body image. I believe if you’re trying to be the best you, then that is the most beautiful thing you can do!

Healthy Eats for Busy People on the go

I don’t know about you, but I always feel like I’m running from one thing to the next.

I get up in the morning, get myself ready, and hurry into work. Then I spend my days going from meetings to appointments, trying to take care of all of my other responsibilities in between.

And after I get out, there’s still no time to relax because I either have errands to run, chores to do at home, or some other item on my to-do list to tackle.

Sound familiar?

Most of the time I don’t mind being busy because, overall, I have a full and completely satisfying life. But it does make one thing difficult—eating healthy.

Unhealthy Snacks Are Everywhere!

It’s way too easy to stop at a vending machine during the day for a sugary snack when I feel like I need a little pick-me-up, and drive-thru is a quick lunch or dinner option when I don’t have time for a more nutritious sit-down meal.

While this is okay every once in a while (you’ve got to live a little right?), eating this way regularly is hard on your health. Because these types of foods are loaded with sugar and salt, they contribute to obesity. This increases your risk of major medical conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer…none of which I want.
Fortunately, there are some healthy eating options that are also quick and easy, making them perfect for busy people who are always on the go.

Quick Yet Healthy Food Options

If you’re constantly running from one activity or obligation to the next, here are some foods that can be prepared and eaten within minutes…

 1. Veggies and hummus.

This healthy snack option is great if you’re super busy because you can buy your veggies pre-cut. Of course, you can also prepare them yourself at the beginning of the week so all you have to do is grab them and go!

The veggies ensure you get your recommended vitamins and minerals. Plus, hummus makes the perfect dip because it’s high in protein (keeping your appetite at bay) and offers additional health benefits like reducing your risk of blood clots, easier blood sugar control, and lower cholesterol.

⚜ 2. Greek yogurt and berries.

Another snack-based food option that is healthier than hitting a vending machine is Greek yogurt with berries. Like veggies and hummus, you get a good dose of protein and nutrients that you can eat pretty much anywhere.

Just be sure to grab yogurt without a bunch of added sugar. Plain is the best.

⚜ 3. Juice.

If you have a couple of minutes to prepare something to eat but not enough time to sit down and eat it, juicing is a good, healthy way to go. You get all of your vitamins and minerals in without having to cart countless containers of fruits and veggies with you throughout the day.

Juicing is also a great way to enhance your health! For instance, one woman shared how drinking juice helped her overcome her skin condition. If it did this for her, imagine what it could do for you!

 4. Turkey roll-up.

Looking for something a little more meal-like? A turkey roll-up will do the job.

To make it, simply roll turkey, lettuce, tomato, a little bit of onion, mild peppers, and whatever other veggies you like in a spinach roll, wrap it in plastic wrap and you’ve got a ready-made lunch for whenever you get hungry.

I like to sprinkle a little vinegar, salt, and pepper on mine, but you can use whatever condiments you like (as long as they’re healthy!).

These are just a couple food options that are quick, easy, and good for you. That makes them perfect if you’re like me and always on the go, yet you still want to look after your health. It’s the best of both worlds!
