Houston has a very special place in my heart. It is where I was born & raised, went to college, & lived in for 20 something years. It is a city with an amazing community & people.

In August 2017, Houston was hit by the devastating Hurricane Harvey & needs our help. Below is a variety of ways that you can help Houston in this time of tragedy.

It will be a long road to recovery, so anything helps at any time.

This list will be updated regularly so if you have any links to add, please leave them in the comments here or e-mail me at shannon@champagneatshannons.com

Where to Donate ::

How to Help The Animals ::

  • Houston SPCA
  • Austin Pets Alive! They transported more than 235 animals to their shelter & running out of storage place for all the supplies so please consider donating financially.
  • American Humane Emergency Efforts
  • Bat World Sanctuary. One thing you may or may not know about Houston is the strong bat colony, specifically by the Waugh Bridge in Montrose & Watonga in northwest Houston. Bats are essential for Houston’s ecology & pest control, especially mosquitos {which can carry various viruses & diseases}. Now, more than ever, Houston needs their bats. More information on the bats here.

Businesses to Support ::

Houston Area Food Banks & Surrounding Regions ::

NOTE :: Please consider donating money vs food because it allows the food bank to use the donation to proivde food more efficiently. More info on why here.

Other Places to Help ::

  • I Have Food, I Need Food. A collaborative effort of Houston chefs / restaurants / volunteers sourcing food to donate where needed. Commercial kitchens / caterers can register to help & shelters can register if they need food.
