Last second Halloween costumes you can whip up ASAP!

Today’s theme is LAST SECOND.

I’m talking literally last second – no time to think and deal. Not only am I late in making this post, but Halloween is in less than 24 hours.

I LOVE Halloween, it’s my favourite holiday. I had my costume planned since August but I ordered the pieces I needed from China in mid-September and unfortunately… they didn’t arrive in time.

I am still deciding if I want to make the costume anyways when it gets here in the next few weeks or if I should just return everything but that is a problem for future Shannon.

SO-

I am in the last minute costume crowd. I’m talking SO LAST MINUTE that all of these can be made with clothes already in your closet. If you don’t happen to have it, then it’s a great excuse to run to somewhere like Target, Express, or Forever 21 to pick something inexpensive out.

Since all of these are so last second, all the items I chose, clothing wise, can easily be worn throughout the year. No one and done items here.

Basically, make-up will be your best friend. If you need to run to CVS or Walgreens, I highly recommend the Wet & Wild Brand. It’s easily my favourite drug store brand. Not only do I love a good throwback, but their products are hella inexpensive, high quality, & cruelty free. In fact, they have one of my favourite lipsticks, remember?! Also #NOTSPONSORED

I should note that I don’t like creepy, I LOVE IT. I am all about that creepy look. All of these looks basically require a black red & white colour scheme & again, VERY simple.

Welllll let’s get into it, shall we

LAST SECOND HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!

SAW DOLL

True story but y ears ago, I was the sexy Saw Doll {or if we’re getting technical, Billy the Puppet} – just further proof that you can literally sexify anything. I don’t have many pictures since this was way before the insta-time, but you can get the picture. I’ll see what I can dig up in my personal archives.

Basically, you want matte black eyeshadow, black eyeliner, crimson red lipstick & lipliner. If you want to go all out, you can do white powder on your face. When I did this costume, I was the Joker the year before so I ~casually~ had white costume makeup on hand. If you want, you can even buy a cheap matte white eye shadow & brush it over your face before you put everything else on.

For the eyes, you want dark and smoky. One of the best parts about Halloween makeup, is the messier the better. Line your eyes, all the way around & with a fluffy brush, from lid to brow bone, fill it in with black. If you have white eyeshadow, powder your brows white.

On your cheeks, take the crimson lip liner and draw a spiral on each of the apples on your cheeks.

Lips, put on the red lipstick. Then, take the black liquid liner & draw 2 vertical lines from each edge of your lips down to your chin.

Outfit is easy: black blazer, white button down, red ribbon tied around the neck (or steal a bowtie from your boyfriend). You can wear pants or a skirt but for my sexy saw doll, I wore black sequin shorts, layered red & black fishnets with like 7 inch platform stilettos because it was the late 2000’s / early 2010’s & that’s just what we did… & I low key miss it.

Bonus points if you can find a tricycle to reeeeaaallly amp the creepy factor.

Side note :: I think Saw V is one of the best Saw’s out there with a very sobering message. Saw VI is another one that that will stick with you for a while. What’s your fave out of the series? I should note that I am so NOT hardcore and during every gory scene, I cover my eyes… but I do love the message of all the series.

VAMPIRE… WELL, A LAZY ONE

Okay so this is seriously so so easy, it’s silly to post. In fact, I got this idea from this post of mine.

If you want to get fangs, you can, but they are honestly a huge pain. In 2009 in my sorority, I was director of social events & hosted a vampire’s ball. WELL- it was sick but the one thing I vividly remember was how much of a pain those fangs were. In fact, a lot of the photos (which were actually from digital cameras that we physically uploaded onto facebook the next day – talk about a throwback), I’m adjusting the fangs.

Soooo as fun as they are, let’s keep things easy. Have you watched True Blood? WELL, their fangs don’t come out until they’re… um… feeding… on someone, so neither will yours.

All you need is a lighter colour foundation (go a shade or two below your skin tone – you can reuse it for highlighting or eyeshadow) topped with a matte powder, blood red lips, and a black smoky cat eye. Use a metallic red gloss and drip it from your lips.

Wear a vampy black outfit – you can do corset & leather pants, a black lacy dress, a button down with the top buttons undone + killer pumps + black ripped jeans.

The most important part? A goblet of blood…. aka wine {or mulled wine}. If you do this, you can forgo the glossy blood drip and take a few drops of wine to stain around your mouth. If booze isn’t your thing, you can use cranberry juice or make a cold pressed VAMPIRO :: orange + carrot + beet juice.

BLACK CAT

Okay so this is SUPER easy. If you have a leopard fluffy jacket that’s super in these days, wear that over a spicy black number.

Basically a black slip dress (even styled over a tee if you want to add some white to the mix), and boots :: combat boots, knee highs, thigh highs, your choice!

Make up is easy as can be & liquid eye liner will be your best friend! For eyes, keep it simple with nude eyes & an extreme black cat eye. On your cheeks, do 3 lines of whiskers with liquid liner. On your nose, draw a black heart.

Now instead of ears, use your hair! Make two horns with your hair – here is a great & easy video tutorial!

THE JOKER / CREEPY CLOWN VIBES

I don’t know what it is about this combination of dark eyes and a giant red smile, but it def does the trick. In 2008, I was the [Heath Ledger] Joker and it was my all time favourite costume. This look is inspired from that. You can see a pic from 2008 here! The joker is without question my favourite character of all time.

Basically, like above, do a lighter foundation – it really amplifies the creepy factor. Using eyeliner, draw light circles around your eyes. This will help guide where you want the makeup. Colour the lids in with the black liner. Take a fluffy eyeshadow brush & circle your eyes with a matte black eyeshadow. Blend it with the eyeliner circles & get a little outside the lines. Be sure to also go above your eyebrow. You want a big black circle for both eyes.

For your lips, take a blood red lipliner and over line your lips. Fill your lips in with a coordinating lipstick. Then, give yourself a lipstick “glasgow smile” & use the lipliner for any detailing. Take the red lipstick and at the edges of your lips, do a curve from each one. From a distance, you should look like a giant creepy smiley face.

What’s really great about this look is it really gets creepier as the night goes on – the more messy and disheveled the make up looks, makes it even scarier. If you have a constant RBF like me, it makes it even spookier.

For an outfit, keep it simple, white tee from Brandy Melville, black pants… even sweats. This would also look rad with a velvet co-ord like this with this from Express or a blazer. Add in a deck of cards for fun.

Here is the look in action!

I hope you like!! What are you being for Halloween?? Did you go out this weekend? I’d LOVE to see your costume! One of my favourite things in the world is scrolling through social media after halloween to see everyone’s costume.

Here, we are keeping things chill. We may go to a neighborhood bar or stay in and drink some pumpkin beers. Either way, I’m stoked. HAPPY HALLOWEEN Y’ALL – see ya in November 😉

To keep things festive, this is one of my favourite songs that I think just SCREAMS Halloween

BOBBY NOURMAND : ” S M O K I N’ J O E “
