!!! Warning: Pictures overload !!!
Ahhhh, back to the swing of things.
I don’t know about you, but I am feeling SO refreshed! Anyone else?
I love Labor Day weekend because every time I come back, I am ready to hit the ground running! I think a lot of it is being out of the hospitality industry (aka wtf is a weekend?!) because ever since 2013, we’ve made sure to max and relax all cool as the seasons change.
I’ve mentioned it over & over & over but I’ve been in a strange rut. To be completely blunt, it lasted for months – I just try to keep it a positive place here.
For the first time in months, I finally feel that I am getting out of it and back into the swing of things. I’ll do a more personal post on this, but I finally feel refreshed & I think Jenner REAAAALLLLY helped.
Erik & I are obsessed with Jenner, California.
Jenner is off the grid in all the best ways & surrounded by so much beauty.
I told y’all about Jenner here but let’s talk more!
We stayed at Timber Cove Resort (fka Timber Cove Inn). It is our favourite place on the Sonoma Coast & so very special.
Every time we go to Jenner, we stay at Timber Cove.
It recently underwent some renovations during the majority of 2016.
We were a tad nervous when we made our reservations since it was our first time to return since the renovation…& very happily surprised! All the charm remained, with a nice modern touch.
They did a phenomenal job in keeping the character to the resort, but modernizing the atmosphere.
The aesthetic of the resort is very much bohemian, 1960’s California – wayyyyy up my alley.
They also turned the outside welcome area into a living room with plenty of activities like ping pong and pool. However, the chess set I raved about last time was no longer there but have no fear! Erik has plenty of chess apps on his phone 😉
One thing that truly makes me happy is being as close as possible to the ocean.
I posted an instagram in bed while there, and as you could see, our bed looked right out to the ocean. It was seriously dreamy.
Equipped with a Nest system, the room regulated temperature. As things got too cold, it would set off the fire place & vice versa if things got too hot. My favourite way, though, is to keep the door open so you get the ocean breeze & waves lullabying you to sleep.
The rooms were all set with Crosley record players, marble (super chic) bathrooms, and a local wetbar stocked with Sonoma Coast wines & beers.
They have rooms that look out to the forest and coves or the ocean. We obviously opted for the ocean view.
Jenner is home to my absolute favourite sunset though you know that if you follow my snaps & insta stories. To be fair, the pictures never do it justice.
In fact, I am having major withdrawals from it – that view is one that gives me instant peace & zen.
We spent most of our time at the resort – including our meals.
They redid the restaurant, but also added a bar / lounge menu that was right up mine & Erik’s alley. The burger was bombbbbbb with a mix of beef & chorizo for extra flavour!
On Sunday, we head over to our favourite: Cafe Aquatica for our favourite poached egg sandwich. After b-fast, we headed across the street to Jenner Inn & Fishstock
Jenner Inn across the street has a great bar, FANTASTIC restaurant, and most importantly – a cutie seal logo.
I bought a hat & sweatshirt (I thought it was very Brandy Melville-esque)!
Okay, so right down the road (behind the Jenner C-Store) hosted a really fun local festival called Fish Stock.
Think live music, bbq seafood, grilled oysters, beer / wine, and a local live auction. Erik & I LOVED it and the local bands were SO, so so good!
We also headed back to another favourite: Fort Ross Vineyards for some wine tasting which took up the majority of our Saturday (something about it just sucks the hours away).
OH & this is crazy, but when we got back to the hotel there was a FOREST FIRE a few coves down from us. Right at sunset, the sky got smokier & smokier! Luckily, it did not spread too far & it got taken care ASAP.
For the most part though, we stayed local to the hotel. The hiking trails are endless, the views are addictive, and it was off the grid enough (yeah there was wifi, but still) to disconnect & fully recharge.
For those in California, Jenner is a must for a weekend getaway – seriously, I have never felt so refreshed and I just FEEL so good and inspired.
