#TRAVEL: Palm Springs, California ♡ Indian Wells

Soooo it’s safe to say, I am in love with Palm Springs!

Seriously though, for a place that’s as easy to get to from where I live, we should be going far more often.

Palm Springs is one of the most gorgeous deserts in California. As you’re in the air, you pass by mauve mountain horizons and it instantly takes your breath away. En route to the hotel, the streets are studded with palm trees. The vibes are strong here. In fact, it reminded us of Cabo without the ocean!

Erik & I had a weekend planned here for a while. His close friend was getting married & man, I’ve got to tip my hat to him for his venue selection!

We arrived Friday afternoon into the most rad desert airport you could imagine! In fact, it reminded us a bit of Byron Bay. Our flight from San Francisco was roughly 45 minutes… EASY. To make it even easier, they use Uber!

Erik called us an Uber and we had the sweetest driver! I mentioned that I forgot a swimsuit and he drove us right to Target for me to purchase one – his idea! We found a cutie little Tiffany Blue ‘kini and hit the road to our resort. This top & this bottom in Island Blue (bottom colour sold out).

…Speaking of Tiffany Blue – I cannot get enough of the new OPI Breakfast at Tiffany’s Line! I wore “Black Dress Not Optional” polish all weekend.

We stayed at the Renaissance in Indian Wells, where the wedding was held & it was a wonderful hotel! As you walk in to check-in, you pass by “Weekend in Palm Springs” playing on the wall, succulents galore, and pineapple infused spa water!

Erik & I got our room which faced the desert (rather the pool), admired the views, before changing into our swimsuits to hit the pool.

At the pool, they have a rad gazebo bar around the pool with plenty of pool staff taking drinks. The specialty there are frozen vodka drinks… um yes, plz! I started with an iced vodka lemonade slushie and hit the pool. In fact, the vodka Lemonade Stand at the Parker is next on my list when we get back out there.

Erik & I played with the bat  filter – my favourite (#RIP – Snapchat, bring it baaaack) & floated the pool with some buzzy frozen treats before the Rehearsal Dinner at the resort’s restaurant: Cava.

Cava was FANTASTIC!

In fact, Erik & I brunched there every morning. Their buffet took me right back to Fiji – it came with a make your own fresh pressed juice station! yes, yes & yes. I started each and every morning with a fresh watermelon juice (which I personally love with champagne). They also had an eggs any way station, fresh malted waffles, and a lovely fruit selection.

We lazed around the pool before heading to the gorgeous wedding which was on the golf greens. The florals were out of this world, it was at the most golden-pink-purple hour of sunset with spanning panoramic views of the dessert.

The reception was a blast, we had plenty of champagne, & what was so fun was their wedding favours: a candy bar for you to build your own bag to take home with you!

The next afternoon, Erik & I spent it with vodka orange juices, of course, at the pool, then brunch (yes, drinks before brunch because #yolo), more pool time, played bean bags (love the sets around the resort)& then finished the day on the golf course before our flight back. When we were leaving, the flight was the most perfect range of reds & blues.

We are already so excited to go back! It seriously is so gorgeous!

We absolutely LOVED the Renaissance. Everything there was just so effortless with PLENTY of amenities (& a gelato bar) – we highly recommend. The golf course was absolutely stunning & the pool was so fun. In fact, you can rent your own cabana and bring whatever floats you want. They also have a full fitness center & tennis courts.

I have to admit, my favourite part was the jacuzzi. It was seriously heaven! It’s weird, you’re somewhere so dry & hot, yet getting in the hotter water feels so, so, so good. I spent the majority of my time there & got a good instagram moment.

To be honest, we spent the majority of the weekend disconnected & it felt so good! I will fullllly admit  (proof here) that I came in with the intention to photograph content in between wedding festivities because hi, i’m annoying. Once we got there, reality hit me and all I just wanted to enjoy some r&r with my love. Sliiightly disconnected.

Cannot recommend Palm Springs enough for a cutie weekend getaway – especially with weather that lets you pool it up in November. I’m down with that!

Do you guys have any Palm Springs favourites?? Tell, tell! Erik & I are planning many a visits back (whether he knows it or not 😉 )

On another note, I am ELATED to share that Prop 64 passed here in California. For those unfamiliar, recreational cannabis is legalized in California.

THIS.IS.HUGE.

This means the entire west coast will be legalized and within the next 5-10 years, the entire country. As mentioned & hinted, I vey strongly believe it will lead us the cure to cancer among other things. I don’t get very political, but this is a movement I care very much about. You can read on Twitter why I am so hardcore YES on 64.

It is much more than just getting lifted – which is fun, don’t get me tf wrong – but to save lives, cure diseases, start businesses, provide jobs, and to make the world a better place. This is the beginning to something really, truly amazing here & im so glad I had the opportunity to vote on this & make history.

Okay, on that note… See you on Friday for another music post!

Lighting one up,

Shannon x
