The Champagne Edit :: Wine, Filters, & Storytelling

TGIFF!!

I feel like December has just started and it’s already flying by. I can’t believe the holidays are in 2 weeks!

We have a ton of wine to pick up in Sonoma so we will be spending our weekend there. It’s been a while since we’ve been and our wine rack is getting sparse so I’m really looking forward to getting back up there.

We are going to make the day of it on Saturday – leave first thing in the morning, brunch, winery after winery, dinner up in Sonoma & maybe even spend the night up there since we have like 5 wineries to visit to get our shipments.

Sunday, I will be working 100% on the blog! I am working on some guides for next year, and the first one will be all about instagram editing / VSCO. Kind of like a one stop shop for all my filters. If you have any questions when it comes to apps / editing, let me know and I will be sure to include it and share all of my secrets!

One of my absolute favourite parts about blogging is the creative process of it – from lightroom, to vsco, to instagram. The aesthetic part for sure! It’s also something I get a ton of questions on so it was a no brainer.

Anyways, other than working some more on that to get it up and running for 2018 and shooting with a photographer, that’s all I have planned!

How about you? What are you up to this weekend?!

Honey Pomegranate Baked Brie by Prosecco & Projects

I LOVE Morgan’s recipes – her blog is a must check out! Everything she makes is simple yet impressive. This Honey Pomegranate baked Brie sounds divine! I love the idea of whipping this up on a Friday as a fun appetizer for both Erik & I! Baked brie is one of my favourite things in the world & I love how she added a touch of sweetness to it.

Tom & Jerry by The Kitchn

Last week, Erik & I hid from SantaCon. Here in the marina, we were basically in the capital of santacon city. We stumbled into our favourite bar for safe shelter and a wave of relief washed over us as we saw a giant sign that said NO SANTAS ALLOWED. Anyways, we were talking to the bartender there about holiday drinks {I’m going to bring him on one of these days to share his Gingerbread Manhattan bc it’s lifechanging} & we got into a long discussion about the classic cocktail, Tom & Jerry. When I was bartending, around this time of year, we made a large batch of this stuff. It’s a Christmastime cocktail, starting with a batter of spices / rum / eggs. You add more rum to it, cognac, & hot milk & it truly warms the soul. This is perfect for entertaining too!

How To Tell A Story On Social Media by Gary Vee

I read this in my uber home yesterday and have been thinking about it ever since. An extremely thought provoking article, especially for bloggers or online content creators. I mentioned here that I’m really working on documenting vs creating. Marketing in media is a whole different world & the way we consume it is far different than even five years ago. In fact, last night Erik and I were talking about this decade. I can’t believe in 2 years, we will enter 2020. SO MUCH has happened and changed in this decade, hell so much has changed ever since we met in 2013 & I don’t even mean it in a personal, romantic way. Anyways every content creator should read this. It’s a long read but completely worth it. I strongly believe reading Gary Vee’s articles and books WILL make you a better blogger. If you haven’t read Crush It!, I can’t recc it enough.

red vinyl trench coat by Pretty Little Thing

I am having a major PVC & vinyl moment as of late. There is something so chic yet risque about it. It’s a material that adds instant sex appeal to any outfit. I am really digging it in clear & especially in scarlet red. This one I’d wear with literally everything. Make it a showstopper and pair with a silky slip or with an all black get up. How would you style it.

Thundercat – Oh Sheit It’s X

So I’ve been geeking out about this song on instagram, but I just can’t help it, it’s SO good! I dare you to not sit still as you listen to it, it’s one of the funkiest songs you’ll hear & so addictive. In fact, some of you may even recognize it from Grand Theft Auto.. is it just me or does that game have the best music!? I followed the playlists on spotify and love it while I’m working {check my profile & the public playlists if you want them too}. In fact, GTA as a whole is a MAJOR source of inspiration for me. Funny enough, the song is a “true story” of a New Year’s Party that went on for two full days. We’ve all been there, right? Anyways, just press play below for all the feel good vibes. I can’t get enough.

  • Awesome article as usual, Shan. You know I started dabbling in VSCO because of you; I am working on my aesthetic still, but I am much more confident every day. Thanks for the Gary Vee recommendations. I like his quick motivational videos and I am sure this article will be a hit for me. I am still battling the documenting vs creating thing… Yay blogging joys.
    Love reading you.
