★☆ got my top lookin’ something like a disco ball ☆★

It’s no secret that I’m heavily influenced by the 70’s & 80’s.

I have a huge soft spot for both the disco era & really the birth of technology in the 80’s. Hell, just check out my music taste as that’s where you can reaaaaallly see it.

Well, clothing is no exception & the more I’m lookin’ something like a disco ball, the better. Gotta let my Houston show with the Paul Wall reference 😉

Last weekend, Erik & I were thinking of going to the Tuxedo show. Spoiler alert, we didn’t because we are such homebodies but this was the outfit I was planning on wearing… okay, & if we are being honest, it was sold out and sorry not sorry but I’m not about spending $100 for GA from some punk on craigslist when the tickets were only $25 & VIP with a meet & greet for $70. Ugh..

The smashing top is actually a dress from Tobi! Maybe 23 year old Shannon would rock it as a dress, but 30 year old Shannon is pulling a Kendall Jenner with her AYAI & wearing it as a top. This top also fits actual size. In the pictures, I’m wearing a small.

Since the hem to this top is slightly flared, you want the jeans to be skinny to add to the silhouette. I am wearing my go to skinny high rise jeans from Urban Outfitters. I also love these ripped black skinnies from Express {currently in my shopping bag}!

The top is such a statement on it’s own & as it hits the light, it sparkles like a… disco ball!

In fact, the cat was going crazy with the reflections in my apartment! I personally love the square neckline. That said, jewelry & accessories are kept to a minimum so you can let it truly shine. For my wrist candy, I’m rocking this bracelet from Boho Betty USA – I love how it shines! {ps – use code CHAMPAGNE for 20% off your order forever & ever}

These sunglasses from My Willows are one of my favourite things I own {also seen here in Cabo}! It’s a mix between sunglasses & jewelry with raw crystals. I love the steampunk vibes, the large side-bar & quartz details. Unfortunately, these specific ones are sold out since I got them last year, but they really have something for everyone and these are VERY similar, just black tourmaline rather than clear quartz.

Shoes were also kept simple. I didn’t want to distract from the top so I just did some classic black heels. The ones I’m wearing are from the 2013 Prabal Gurung collab with Target {one of my FAVE Target collabs of all time!!} but these Who What Wear Target heels are very similar and that price tho….

It’s no surprise I’m obsessed with this lip colour, in fact I made a whole post about it on Monday. This orange-red coral is insanely flattering & can tie together any look. Here, I’m wearing the $1.99 Wet ‘N’ Wild one in Purty Persimmon. I’m OBSESSED with Wet ‘N’ Wild. In fact, I’ll do a full blown post on the must buys from it, but this lipstick is very high on the list.

Even though we didn’t go to the show, playing dress up was just as fun with a Tuxedo dance party on the roof totally made up for it. We really have a ball shooting – even though I took a ton of selfies, ha. Erik wears his photographer hat {no really, he does}, we open a beer or ten and just take in golden hour & the view.

What do you think? Are you on the dresses as tops train? That said, if I did wear this as a dress, I’d wear it with high-quality matte tights with an opaque of 80 like these, patent black heels, teased af hair, & a black velvet choker like this.

Happy hump day, y’all!! x
