#champagnefilters || VSCO Recipe 005 :: A4 filter {aka the Cool Girl filter}

Hey guys! Back at it with my #champagnefilters series.

First things first -did you know you can follow hashtags on instagram?! Pretty cool, huh? Well, follow #champagnefilters so you can get the filters directly in your feed! Also, if you create anything with my filters, be sure to use the tag so I can stalk & show alllllll the love. & while we are at it, follow @shannonsilver on instagram {PS once I hit 10k, I have a HUGE ass giveaway coming so clickity click & follow follow!! I’m sooooo close!!!}

Today’s filter I titled “TYPICAL INFLUENCER” using a4 on vsco

I feel like this is the “cool girl” filter. It’s warm, it makes your skin look good, & gives an urban city vibe. The girl who uses this filter basically has a closet full of i.am.gia & a beauty shelf full of Glossier.

This filter I find looks best for #ootd shots, street style, or even close ups of what you’re wearing. It’s also a bit more subtle than my other filters – trying to get something for everyone here! When outside, especially in the afternoon, it’s very subtle which you can see in the photo of me at the winery & with coffee {they are directly on top of each other}

Now full disclosure, this is pretty out of the norm of my usual editing style so it was fun to get a bit out of my comfort zone. I have a bit of a retro y2k vibe and this filter is definitely 2018 cool so I need to get to this decade eventually LOL

Let’s get into it, shall we?!

VSCO filter :: A4

cost :: free for a limited time!!!!

I LOVE the A series – there are two halves to them: the analog series & the aesthetic series… can you see why I love them already? They boast natural tones, a slight fade, slightly undersaturated & inspired by analog film. They go well with almost every type of photo from portraits, to food, to outfit, to interiors. I personally love them with an urban setting too as they are slightly moody. A4 is in the aesthetics family.

A4 is a warmer toned filter with a hint of a siena fade. It makes it super flattering on your skin while also making the whites whiter.

Since it does brighten things up, I lowered the exposure a bit but upped the contrast to keep things sharp. I also did a SLIGHT save of the shadows to show detail. Though it’s just by +.1, it makes a big difference. To keep details up, I sharpened it a kiss. I also tinted the shadows blue to give a nod to old film but also balance the temperature out. I also lowered the temp slightly too.

Next, I saved the highlights slightly to keep things matte & balanced. Then, I tinted the highlights red. As you know, this is one of my favourite tips to flatter skin tones. That said, adding the red gave a SLIGHT pink tint so I upped the skin tones. Upping the skin tones adds green to balance it out while going down adds pink – just an FYI! I also added a SLIGHT saturation by + .1. Again, it’s subtle but lends to the vibrancy of it as I didn’t want it to be too under saturated.

Finally, my favourite step, I added the grain and fade because it’s what all the cool girls do 😉

Enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll keep these bi-weekly now and eventually I’ll get it down to weekly in about a month or two 😉  xx Shannon

  • GUYS, this rosé has been rocking my world in a major way! It’s seriously SO GOOD and only $15. I seriously can’t get enough. This is the one I’ve been going on about in my stories lately!
💘
@DOMAINE_TERRE_DE_MISTRAL 2017 Laura Rosé from Provence • First off, that colour! I love a pale salmon pink rosé. This dry rosé is 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, & 10% Rolle aka Vermentino. It has notes of watermelon jelly rancher {this may sound weird but it’s my absolute FAV rosé note}, white peach, rose petal, nectarine, & lemon zest... legit anything I could ever want, like I kind of want a bowl of this right now. 😅 The mouthfeel is more luscious than the average rosé with a finish that lingers on your tongue making you just want more. I promise this wine will go with everything but especialllllllyyyyy prosciutto wrapped melon, poolside, in a chic swimsuit and big sunnies. Anyways, I found this at my local supermarket here in the Marina so hopefully yours has it too!
💘
I know you guys like rosé and I seriously can’t recc this enough! Ok your turn- what are you drinking and digging?? LMK 🍉💕✨
