I feel like I say this all the time, but this is easily one of my favourite series.
It’s so rad to connect with other women online & share their stories and passions. As we get more and more digitalized, it really makes the world a much smaller place.
The power trio of Savvy Sisters Media are social media mavens. They not only keep up with all the major trends, but can create a solid social media campaign for any type of client, whether it be blogger, restaurant, a cutie boutiqu – you name it!
These days, Social Media is so, so, so very important. I can’t emphasize it enough.
It is also extremely time consuming. I’ll totally admit, about five years ago, I thought social media management would be easy but BOYYYY WAS I WRONG.
As you do it with a business and brand in mind, it is your voice to the public & we see it with celebrities all the time, one wrong post or tweet can lead to a disaster. Not to mention, it is extraordinarily time consuming. It is extremely different from using it personally like I was used to since the myspace days starting back to 2005.
Before I get into the interview, one thing I do daily is to dedicate 30 minutes to Twitter, even if it’s 3 ten minute blocks. Give it a try!
Also, on a personal note, I’ve loved getting to meet Courtney through social media (we met on Facebook) & am obsessed with her Instagram! She seriously is such a delight and I gotta admit – I wanna go party with her! Girl knows how to do it right! Jamie & Tara have been the biggest sweethearts ever, as well, in our e-mail exchanges. I am truly lucky to know these three ladies.
Now, without further ado, meet the power babes of Savvy Sisters Media Group!

⚜ Tell me about your business, Savvy Sisters Media
JL}: We are 3 media savvy girls looking to help small businesses grow their online presence. With technology constantly changing this is something that business owners realistically can’t keep up with themselves, that’s where we come in. We have the time and the skill to market small businesses online to help them increase their sales.
CG}: With our non-traditional approach to social media marketing, we ensure everything we do has cultural relevancy to our clients. We constantly seek and create opportunity for our clients in all areas including, but not limited to media, digital and influencer collaborations. We create platforms for our clients and create content relevant to what the client needs.
⚜ What are your short-term and long-term goals?
TL}: I think some of our short-term goals would be to spread the word about Savvy Sisters Media and what we have to offer small businesses. As for our long-term goals, to build a company with a vast clientele and well-known brand image for ourselves and our clients.
JL}: Our short-term goals are definitely to increase our brand awareness and grow our clientele. For the long-term Savvy Sisters Media will be doing big things, in 10 years I see us being a full media agency with advertising and public relations. We’re on the road to success!
⚜ Favourite books?
TL}: I love romance novels with a little bit of action. I’m a sucker for vampire series.
⚜ Biggest Beauty Secret? Spill!
CG}: My best kept secret when it comes to beauty is DRY SHAMPOO, that stuff is a life saver!
TL}: Highlighter! You can wear highlighter in so many different ways. My favorite has to be Soft and Gentle by MAC Cosmetics. It can be dressed up and down for any occasion.
JL}: My absolute favorite thing in my makeup bag is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara!
⚜ Who or what inspires you or where do you find inspiration?
TL}: The future inspires me. The idea of what could be and the potential to do more motivates me to be the best I can be and strive for the greatest.
JL}: I definitely agree with Tara on this one, picturing the future and all we have to accomplish pushes me to work toward our goals, this is just the beginning! I find inspiration on a daily basis when posting on our Savvy Sisters Media Instagram account, we like to have a mix of professional advice and industry tips as well as motivational and inspirational quotes.
⚜ What are some of the challenges in social media and how you handle them?
TL}: I think always staying constant and up-to-date can be a challenge. This world is forever evolving, and with this fast past society it’s imperative we are changing with it. It can be difficult to adapt with the trends, but it’s important to look towards the future to predict how you can stay ahead of the game.
JL}: I think the main challenge that comes with social media is finding balance in your personal life, when you are plugged in 24/7 it’s easy to lose track of the simple things in life. I love to take walks and do yoga as a way to keep me grounded in a world of constant posts and sharing.
⚜ Looking back, if you could do anything differently in building your brand, what would it be?
TL}: No. My past is paved with mistakes, but the road leads to success. Without failure and trial and error we wouldn’t be the company we are today. I wouldn’t change anything about our brand.
⚜ Currently, what is your favourite social media outlet & why? Any social media advice?
CG}: My ultimate favorite social media platform has to be Instagram, I have been obsessed with that since the day it came out before anyone was on that kick. My social media advice would be to follow people that have the same interests as you and don’t be afraid to make comments! I have met so many amazing people through Instagram.
TL}: I love Pinterest! There is so much content on this platform, whether it be from companies, brands or personal blogs, there is always something for everyone on Pinterest. I am constantly looking for inspiration on Pinterest. I probably have a Pinterest board for every aspect of my life.
JL}: Snapchat! I love sharing what I’m doing with my friends and the filters are always so much fun.
⚜ What is next for the Savvy Sisters?
JL}: The inside scoop on what’s next for Savvy Sisters is our new client Cedar Street Grill – everyone check out their page like/follow!! big things are coming soon, stay tuned!
CG}: What’s next for savvy would be increasing our clientele, working on the right strategies to increase our brand awareness and provide the perfect experience for our customers!
⚜ Who are some of your favourite bloggers to follow?
⚜ How do you see social media and blogs evolving and how do you plan to evolve with it?
JL}: I personally see blogs becoming mainstream in the future, if you don’t have a blog are you even connected with what’s happening in the online world? We plan on evolving with this by creating a Savvy Sisters Media blog as well as our founder Courtney creating her own personal lifestyle blog!
⚜ What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
JL}: Follow your dreams. I know this one is cliche but I certainly hear it and apply it the most. I’ve pictured myself being a savvy business woman walking the streets of NYC since I was a kid and I saw The Devil Wears Prada. I didn’t know what exactly my dream entailed at the time, but I can tell you that right now I’m living my dream and continuing to reach my goals and follow my dreams every day.
⚜ Finally, advice for others who are looking to follow their dreams, but not sure how?
JL}: The best things in life come when we aren’t looking for them, do what makes you happy and follow your passions that is when things will fall into place. You need to stay active and invest in yourself, if you don’t believe in yourself no one else will. Confidence is key.
