Hi everyone!


sorry for posting this #onatuesday rather than ready to rock at Monday by midnight per usu.

I actually took the day off.

Yup, yesterday, for the first time in years… I did not do a damn thing.

I did not get on social media.

I probably did 3 snaps (with one saying that I am not doing anything), zero instagrams, some photo-editting but not much.

I spent a long time in bed reading & hanging with my cat with 90210 (guilty pleasure – Naomi Clark is my favourite) on repeat in the background until my boyfriend got home from work at around 9:00 PM.

To be completely transparent – though it was hinted on snapchat… I quit my job.

And it is very bittersweet. I’m still in the mourning period, I suppose? I guess I kind of feel like I broke up with a boyfriend who I loved, but needed to move on so I can find myself, professionally. Does that make sense?

I loved where I was however, I have an insatiable thirst to continue to grow and develop.

That said, I am VERY, very excited for where I am going next. It is with a company that I love (& quite frankly use often) so I’m stoked. It’s a perfect fit for me & I am counting down the days.

And since I’m talking about it now, it should be noted that I rarely talk about my professional life – I like to keep it completely separate & it goes without saying but anything noted on this blog are my opinions and my opinions alone.

So… now I have a week or two of some free-time.

Which to be honest, my body and mind have craved!

I will be spending it honestly behind a computer the entire time! I might as well get these glasses. Seriously tho.

I want to really get better at coding / css, photoshop, and other website related things. See, I very much enjoy working on both the blog & all things computer related so I love having the time to do this, not to mention the daylight for photography.

I also mentioned it, but I want to Khloe Kardashian out my apartment, so that’s another between-jobs goal.

I also am working on a product, so that time is nice because it is a lot of R & D 😉

I am going to challenge myself more in the kitchen now that I have the time so stay tuned!

So, a book I’ve been reading that is dog-eared like crazy is Robb Walsh’s Tex Mex cookbook.

Being a Texan, it’s so neat to see the origins of some of the recipes, as well as local favourites.

To be real, ever since moving to California, I miss Tex-Mex and Texas BBQ something fierce.

Anyways, last night, I made ground beef tacos (which were SO good – I’ll share the recipe soon – EASY) but I took it one step forward and made my own flour tortillas… I didn’t have lard on hand, but I DID have bacon fat, so I might have made bacon fat flour tortillas? And they might have been so bomb BUT EASY. Literally just flour, bacon fat, salt, and water.

…And tonight, I’m going to make empanadas from scratch with the leftover meat.


I also made all the salsa from scratch.

Feeling very much inspired from Ninfa’s (aka home to THE best fajitas on the planet omg plz fedex fajitas and queso to SF?!) creamy green sauce, here is what I did yesterday:

simmered chopped tomatillos, a shallot, jalapeños, serranos, and tomatoes for 15 minutes. Blended it with an avocado. Added chopped kale, lime juice and cilantro and let it chill. Then, I stirred in greek yogurt. Sooooo good.

Though I do have the extra time which lead to me taking the extra steps, it should be noted that the steps to make things from scratch really are not that much more time consuming. Not to mention, this salsa will last me all week! So I hope to keep this going once I am back in an office.

Oh! Let’s talk the weekend!

Soooo we didn’t do much. I had farewell drinks with my ex…company 😉

Then, Erik & I grabbed sushi at our favourite local sushi joint. Their lychee ice cream was white as snow and I could not get enough.

The next day, it was rainy, but we had some wine we needed to pick up. We decided to make it out to Sausalito for lunch, and venture into Sonoma.

We went to a place called The Trident and OMG it was soooooooo good. We got the eggs bennie and a seafood platter which was full of cocktail prawns, oysters, and Dungeness Crab meat… aka all good things.

Then, we went to our usual suspects: Iron Horse & Twomey to pick up wine.

We brought over the camera, and sipped & snapped. Real talk though, Iron Horse is probably one of the most photogenic places in the world. I could of shot photos all day. The associate working there gave us a ton of photography tips that I’m going to try out first and then share with you guys – they were legit!

Then we went to Twomey, picked up more wine – not to mention the Merlot was tasting VERY good… then headed home, ordered some Thai food, watched The Martian, and called it a night.

The next day we called our Mothers, cleaned the house, went out in the Marina, got Super Duper…..and I was in bed by 8:00 PM.
